The optical community of Argentina welcomes participants, both beginners and senior researchers, involved in all areas and applications of speckle. The community is particularly interested in discussing the most recent theories, techniques and data analysis approaches, and also the different applications of the speckle effect in experimental mechanics, material science, optical testing, industry, medicine, biology, agriculture, forensic science, etc. Student participation is strongly promoted, as new generations are needed to keep up with the growth rate. Within the framework of the EU Belgian presidency which has started on July 1st, the Walloon Region and the Flemish Government, in partnership with the Belgian organisations Agoria and Sirris and with the European Commission, are organising a conference dedicated to the Industrial Technologies programme of the EU's Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP7). The focus will be on integrating nanotechnologies and nanosciences, materials and production technologies, which are the key areas of the FP7 NMP Theme.

The objective of the Conference is to address the social, environmental and economic challenges for the European manufacturing industry and to establish a dialogue with scientists, decision makers and opinion formers on the contribution which research can bring to transform European industry from a resource-intensive to a knowledge-intensive one.

The conference programme counts more than 60 world renowned speakers and experts in the field. There is an exhibition, a "matchmaking" event and several company visits to innovative Belgian companies.

Following the publication of the call for proposals for the NMP theme, the topics will be presented by the European Commission.

You can meet National Contact Points and EC Programme Officers and set-up research and innovation partnerships. You will have the opportunity to offer your expertise or to look for partners to build innovative projects.

This initiative aims at promoting a scientific meeting with a high level of interaction between participants,  enabling  an open debate and the assessment of new concepts, technologies and applications in the domain of optical fibre sensors, as well as the establishment of new collaborations and networks. EWOFS'2010 also intends to complement in time and geographical location the international conferences in this area, particularly the International Conference on Optical Fibre Sensors.
